The Buddha oil, also known as Australian Desert Rosewood oil, is obtained by steam distillation of wood and large branches of Eremophila mitchellii.

The odour of the oil is characteristic, sweet-woody with smoky leathery back notes, making it an interesting ingredient for perfumes, especially in colognes for men.
