Leptospermum scoparium, commonly called mānuka, manuka, manuka myrtle or even New Zealand Tea Tree , is a species from the Myrtaceae family that is native to south-east Australia and New Zealand. The Manuka essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the leaves and stems of the plant, the Manuka oil is often referred to as magical due to its multiple applications possibility, ranging from an effective antibacterial, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. The Leptospermum scoparium oil is known to be very effective against microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus.
